TRUTH & Verification: No the images are not from India but from Venezuela. The image is widely viral on Facebook and Twitter.
As per venezuelanalysis, on May 4, The uprising at the Los Llanos Penitentiary Centre in Guanare, Portuguesa State reportedly began at 1 pm when clashes broke out between prison guards and inmates armed with firearms, grenades, and knives. At least 75 people have been injured, including the prison director, Carlos Toro and at least 45 people lost their lives.
As per amnesty, according to the Venezuelan Prison Observatory (OVP), the prison protest began in response to restrictions on relatives bringing food for inmates. According to OVP, the prisoners had not received food from their relatives for several days due to this measure that was introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The former director of Procedural Action of the Public Ministry, Zair Mundaray, revealed during the morning of this Saturday on his Twitter account, that "Brigadier General Gherson Chacón Paz, Head of the GN Zone Detachment in Portuguesa, was the one who directed the operation that culminated in the Guanare prison massacre. The establishment of the chain of command is essential to attribute criminal responsibility ”.
