How to differentiate between Chinese and Indian Products
Barcode starting with number
690 to 699 is country code of China
Barcode starting with number
890 is country code of India
Let’s Boycott Chinese product
Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products 'made in china', so they don't show from which country it is made. However, you may now refer to the barcode, remember if the first 3 digits is 690-695 then it is Made in China. pic.twitter.com/GWkCZbooWP

TRUTH & Verification: Thousands of users begun sharing this fake news ever since Modi said on National television to go local, he asked people to use products made in India.
Barcode numbers beginning with 890 are the barcode numbers that come directly from GS1 India. The ONLY legal way to get numbers starting with 890 is to join GS1-India – this means completing their membership forms and paying a joining fee and annual membership fees to GS1 – which is VERY expensive (GS1 only license the numbers to you – so you have to pay their annual fees every year for the rest of your product life).
Many people mistakenly believe that the first few digits of the barcode numbers show the country of origin of the product. However, the barcode number says NOTHING accurate about the country of origin of the product. The only thing that these first few digits show is the country of origin of the number. So in reality, products that come from India can have any barcode number on them.
If you want to demonstrate that your product is made in India, then the best way to do this is to print “Made in India” or similar on the product. This is an advertising claim and must be provable if challenged. (Some manufacturers also print “Made in India” directly above the barcode to help customers).
890 Barcode Numbers

Barcodes that have the numbers 890 as the first three digits do not belong to India, apart from this, 690 to 699 does not mean that the product is from China.
BARCODE PREFIXES AND PRODUCT COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
VERDICT: False, it is quite clear that the number 890 does not means the product is made in India, for that the product has to be labeled as Made In India.
