News Verification: The claim said to be stating that CENTRAL BANK OF INDIA....announced in public notice, that they included NRC doc in KYC list is true.
Siasat a website based from Hyderabad also spread the news stating, “Hyderabad: In a stunning development, the Central Bank of India is asking its customers to submit the details of their National Population Register (NPR) for its KYC (Know Your Customer) form. The bank has warned the clients that failing to comply with the directive will lead to freezing of their accounts.”
The notification was published by the bank in a Telugu daily in some editions of AP.
This news was published in Enadu Telugu News paper (Krishna District Edition) Jan11, 2020. As per the website initially, the message from the Central Bank of India got printed due to some printing mistakes.
The public notice was published on January 11 by the bank’s central office, Mumbai. The list of documents it mentioned was PAN card, passport, voter identification card, driving license, NREGA employment card, Aadhaar card and letter certified by the National Population Register.
After asking its customers to submit a National Population Register (NPR) document as a proof for its Know Your Customer (KYC) procedure before January 31, the Central Bank of India has now said that NPR letter is not mandatory and that any other document is also valid for KYC.
