Facts Check Verdict: Mixed
News Verification: A post shared by many users on Social media claiming of Delhi Police lathi-charge against the students of Jamia is not true. We did not any reference for lathi-charge by the police, yet fake and old pictures and videos are being shared.
Anya Shankar, a reporter claimed and posted a video of mild police action “Police did use mild force to push back protesters who were constantly clashing with them and throwing water packets in their direction. Lathis and batons were even raised to scare off protesters but there was no lathi-charge. The video has been shot by me.”

She said, “Too many rumors doing the rounds of police lathi-charge near Jamia. This is completely false. Those spreading this misinformation intentionally should realize this will harm not just their own credibility, but also of the anti-CAA movement.”

As per news18, 16 students are admitted to Al Shifa Hospital, of which eight have been sent home. .. Students and other protesters, who were in the first line (near barricades), have been injured and pushed by the riot police. However, an official said that no protesters were lathi-charged.

The protesters, including several women, began their march from Jamia's gate no 7 around noon amid heavy deployment of security personnel in and around the university.
The scuffle intensified by 6.00 pm as the students refused to budge and a group of protesters gheraoed the Sukhdev Vihar police station. Some protesters jumped over barricades as police in riot gear tried to stop them.
The situation in Jamia became tense after scores of Millia students and residents of Jamia Nagar got into a scuffle with Delhi police after they were stopped from carrying an anti-CAA march towards Parliament. the student said that the cops were beating them below the belt so that the camera could not capture it. Some students were detained but were released later.
Yes, there was some police action, but the police mildly tried to stop the huge crowd of protestors.
