Facts Check Verdict: Fake / False / lie
News Verification: Tweet shared by Aam Aadmi Party just before the Delhi elections claimed that AAP supreme left his Income Tax job, in order to serve the people of New Delhi is not true. Arvind Kejriwal has never been the Income tax commissioner as claimed in the tweet.
As per news published on Business Standard, In a letter to Kejriwal on Friday, the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) Association said the former's statement that an ordinary income tax inspector makes Rs 1 crore a year and that he could also have earned crores of rupees as income-tax commissioner had he not resigned to embrace social work, casts aspersions on the whole department.
The IRS Association also refuted Kejriwal's claims that he worked as a commissioner of income tax, saying his batch has still not been promoted to that rank.
As per Indiatoday news published in 2013, The Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) all-India body, in a two-page letter to Kejriwal, also points out that he had technically never worked in the post of a Commissioner of Income Tax.
IRS Association lambasts Arvind Kejriwal - Full Letter
IRS claimed directly and said to Kejriwal, Contrary to your claims, you have never worked as Commissioner and your batch has still not been promoted to (the rank of) Commissioners of Income Tax," .
Hence Kejriwal was not yet promoted to be the Commissioner, as claimed by AAP before the Delhi election
